Cultural Profiles in Modern Exile
This course is a critical introduction to the historical, philosophical, and cultural aspects of modern exile. Through an analysis of literary and critical texts the course investigates exile as the defining experience and metaphor of modernity and examines the dialectical relationship between imagined/remembered homelands and transnational identities and between language loss and bi- and multilingualism.
